Ooh La La Dresser Redo

Although this dresser was already painted when I found her at an estate sale, I think she was looking a bit tired.  Two weeks after picking up the dresser, I found the mirror.  I just knew they would look perfect together!  I decided to try something new and decoupage paper onto the drawers.  I first saw this done by Mandie Morris of Altar'd Design on her "Love Letters" pieces.  I bought both  ebooks by Mandie  which have given me tons of guidance for all of my work!

So here we go from tired and worn, to Ooh La La!

Like I said, a bit tired and worn.

All sanded and trying on the new found mirror!

Ooh La La!

Now It's a Vanity "Fair"

Remember this "not so vanity fair"?

Well, it's finished!  I debated back and forth on whether to include a skirt on it because it hides the pretty spindle legs.  My husband convinced me to put a skirt on it.  He thinks that's part of the charm of the piece.  I guess in the end, I agreed with him.  I actually had to add some snaps to keep the top of the skirt from sagging where the arms are.  Those are not in this picture.  I took the pics before those got put on in order to get a posting up for a grand opening at the shop where it is up for sale.  Anyway, without any further ado.........

Sorry for the quality of the pictures.  I need some lessons on how to get a better shot.  Unfortunately I can't get my daughter-in-law, the professional photographer, to take my pics all the time.

Next project, a small dresser with mirror.  Come back soon!

Dining Table Makeover Part 2

Well, I've finished the dining table and I think she came out nicely.  I'm excited to be able to display my completed projects in an actual storefront for the next five weeks!  It's kind of a trial for this garden school / shop to set up a small market at the front of their store.  Here's hopin' to success all around!

Just as a reminder here's the before of my dining table.

Before I show the after, I would like to apologize for the quality of the photos.  I don't have a very fancy camera and I think it was still too bright outside.  My daughter-in-law, who is a professional photographer, took the previous pictures of my desk.  Anyway, here it is........

This is with no leaves opened.

That whitewash was something new for me.

A view of one leaf.  There is one at each end.

Fully extended she's 7 1/2 feet long!

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope to have more up soon!  Come back by and visit.  Thanks!

Vanity Not So Fair

The dining table is close to completion and pictures will be up soon.  I think it's coming out quite nice.  I tried something new for me, which was whitewash.  Everyone will have to let me know what they think once I post the pics.

Well, here's my next candidate for a makeover!  This little vanity looks a little abused right now.  But I think it's gonna be a real charmer once I spruce her up.

A skirt gets added all around and these little arms open up to get to the drawers.

Like I said, a little abused.
Well, it's almost midnight so I think I better sign off for the night.  Please come back to check out the final results for these two projects.

Dining Table Makeover

I have started a new project that is beginning to take form.  It's funny once you start sanding a piece, it kind of speaks to you as to how it should be painted.  I had one thought in mind until I started the sanding and then a whole different idea came to me.  Anyway, this dining room table is what I've started to transform.  I think she'll be a real beauty once I finish!

I think someone must have used this as a work table.

I love the leaves that open out on each end.  No storing them like alot of tables.

All the way opened she is 90 1/2" long.  That's 7 1/2 Feet!

I don't think I'll get much work done today because I am watching one of my grandsons all day.  Maybe I can squeeze a little in during naptime. :)  Be on the lookout for the completion of this beauty soon.  I can't wait for the outcome myself!

The Beginning

I've decided to try my hand at selling my painted creations.  I've been painting and refinishing things through the years for my own home and have had some pretty nice results.  This is the before and after of my first paid project.  I think it came out pretty well.

This is the before......

And now for the after.....

Too bad I couldn't leave it right here in my house.  But it does have a happy new home.

Stay tuned for my next makeover!
