Here's another chapter that is primarily a father's warnings to his son about the seductions of an immoral woman. I think I covered all I really have on this subject on Day 5. So my focus will be on the first few verses of this chapter and how I think they apply to all of us. When I read these verses, I again take it as my Father God speaking to me. Let's take a look at
verses 1 - 4.
"Follow my advice, my son; always treasure my commands. Obey them and live! Guard my teachings as your most precious possession. Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Love wisdom like a sister; make insight a beloved member of your family".(New Living Translation)
I have to ask myself, am I "always treasuring His commands and guarding them as my most precious possession?". It reminds me that I need to remain true to what I believe about His commands. Sometimes it's easy to let things slide to avoid confrontation or a little discomfort. If I truly treasured His commands all the time, I wouldn't let that happen. I don't know that I'm going to walk around with the word of God tied on my fingers, but I have had post-it-notes stuck here and there at times. When I have done this, it does help me to keep His commands at the forefront of my mind. I think in order to "write them deep within my heart", I need to meditate on His word and memorize passages. This is a habit that I have let fall away over the years. I think I will begin "writing" His word deep in my heart again.
What steps will you take today to treasure His commands?
Blessings!
Jeanne

"Guard my teachings as your most precious possession." Without these teachings we will have no true values in life... Thanks for sharing.
